I've always loved the title of this track as a saying and always wanted to write a sing based on it. i'm not really a religious person. religion is responsible for so much evil in the world. but i like the thought of good and evil in an eternal battle (i fucking love the show supernatural). This is probably evident on the lodestar cover, and lyrics to lodestar as well. kinda like angels and demons waring in the sky, hahaha. anyway. so i wanted to write a sing based on the title saying and using the lyrics based around that idea as well. it's about people being fucking fake. stabbing you in the back when you thought they were your friend. pretending to be someone they're not. The music for this song was written way back in probably 08. it was the last song we were working on before we stopped playing live. back then the working title was casualties of war. we just could never work it out back then. paris wanted heavy, the rest of us thought it was too melodic, very lagwagon-y. plus we couldn't nail a melody were were happy with. it was actually the hardest melody to come up with the for the album. there were som many versions and takes until chris came up with this beauty. i'm suprised we never worked it for lodestar but at the time we went with lodestar as the new song on that ep. we almost weren't gonna do it this time but when darcy and i were doing guitar demos for this album we'd done the six other new songs and i said you know what, fuck it, let's do this other one i have. we were drunk and it was laate so we just did it and i'm so fucking glad we did. the break down origianlly had some tapping in and and shit but it was a bit too much. this is gonna be a killer live, fuck i need to work on my fitness ~micka~
